This is a replica of part of a window in All Saints Church, North Street, York. The window is called the Corporal Acts of Mercy and this panel is part of the section depicting the 'Clothing of the Naked'. It is painted in the 'York' style - characterised by the bulbous noses and bug eyes. The original panel has been re-leaded unsympathetically with very wide leads which cover a lot of the painting detail. It also has a number or repair leads which make it difficult to know where the original leads would have been placed. The figure of the peasant in the bottom left of the panel may also be a later replacement as it is not painted in quite the same style as the rest of the figures. In making the copy I tried to replicate the original style of painting and to re-make the panel using the correct width of lead came (medieval glaziers would have used thinner came - 3/16ths or 1/4 inch). I also re-drew the cutline to remove the repair leads.

I make traditional and contemporary stained glass designs. Please call me on 07910 418 723 if you would like further information or are interested in commissioning or buying.
