The design for this panel was inspired by a photograph of melting sea ice. Sections of the ice break into smaller pieces and begin to melt at the edges. I wanted to show this staged fracturing process by varying the widths between the different sections. The panel was constructed by first copperfoiling each piece of glass and trimming the copperfoil with a scalpel to resemble the fracture lines. The copperfoiled peices were soldered into sections and the sections leaded together. The original sketch for this panel is also shown above. I make traditional and contemporary stained glass designs.
