Painting is a bit of a misnomer when it comes to the way I glass paint sometimes. This piece was made by coating the (lovely mouth blown) glass with glass paint – smoothed out with a badger brush and then scratched into with a needle. You have to ‘draw’ the light bits – scraping away the paint so you can see the light through it. It’s a bit like drawing a negative – quite difficult to get your head round at first. it’s much more like drawing than painting. I also paint in the traditional manner see the Painted Glass gallery for a few examples. You can compare it to my Drawing style as well.
